Dubai’s RTA Announces Mobile-Based Renewal for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registrations

On Tuesday, July 2, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a new feature allowing motorists to renew their driving licenses and vehicle registrations through their mobile phones. This innovative service aims to enhance convenience for users, streamlining access to essential transportation-related documents.

Samsung Integration with RTA App

Samsung users now have the ability to add their vehicle registration and driving license information directly to their Samsung Wallet via the RTA app. The updated version of the RTA app, released in May, simplifies the user experience by integrating these services into a single, centralized platform.

This integration eliminates the need for multiple apps, providing users with a consolidated interface for managing their important transportation documents. The app’s personalized dashboard consolidates services into one screen, offering seamless and convenient navigation. This one-window solution facilitates the renewal of vehicle registrations and driving licenses, as well as the purchase of parking tickets, with minimal hassle.

“Through smartphones, we will revolutionize urban mobility and progress towards a digital future, aligning with Dubai’s vision of becoming the smartest city in the world,” said Al Shaikh.

Fadi Abu Shamat, Head of Mobile Experience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, highlighted the integration’s robust military-grade Knox security suite, underscoring Samsung’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing security and safeguarding consumer data privacy.

Expanding Digital Solutions

This announcement follows RTA’s introduction of the digital nolPay for Samsung users in October last year. This service allows users to pay for public transportation in Dubai by tapping their smartphone or smartwatch. The digital Nol card can also be used at select retail shops, groceries, public parks, museums, and more.

RTA’s continuous efforts to integrate digital solutions into everyday activities reflect its mission to enhance urban mobility and contribute to Dubai’s vision of becoming the smartest city in the world.
