To all beach lovers out there, here’s the good news!

Big news for tourists and water sport enthusiast!

Dubai! Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, just gave the green light to the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project, and it’s set to be the longest open public beach in the city. Announced on Sunday the 7th July 2024, this project is going to be a game-changer for both locals and tourists.

Once it’s done, you’ll have a massive two-kilometre beach for swimming, a 2.5km area dedicated to diving, a scenic walkway with viewing platforms, and tons of spots for chilling and having fun. It’s perfect for beachgoers of all ages! The beach will be super accessible too, with a two-lane road, parking for 1,000 cars, 80 bicycle racks, a cycling track, and a 5 km running track.

Sheikh Hamdan said, “The Jebel Ali Beach Development Project is part of a grand plan to boost Dubai’s public beaches by 400%! We’re adding new beaches, upgrading the old ones, and packing them with all sorts of cool recreational, sports, and investment facilities as part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.” He’s all about making Dubai the best city in the world to live in, with awesome beaches, open spaces, and green areas for everyone to enjoy.

Mattar Al Tayer, the Commissioner General for Infrastructure, Urban Planning, and Well-Being Pillar, mentioned that Nakheel will develop a 5 km sandy beach, and Dubai Municipality will handle a 1.6 km mangrove beach. The mangroves create a unique ecosystem, perfect for nature lovers.

The Pearl

Located near the entrance of Palm Jebel Ali, this spot is the hub of all beach and recreational activities. Expect a lively family

The Sanctuary

Situated in the mangrove area, it’s a mix of educational and recreational fun, featuring biodiversity studies, turtle rehab programs, and environmental awareness initiatives.

Other Cool Projects

Dubai’s not stopping there! A floating bridge will soon link the two sides of Al Mamzar Beach. Announced on June 3, this 200-metre pedestrian bridge will let you walk right over the water. Plus, the urban planning committee is revamping Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 beaches, though parts of them will be closed for safety during construction.

Last year, Dubai revealed plans to extend its coastline by 400%, giving everyone 105km of public beaches to enjoy, up from the current 21km. Some of the revamped beaches include Khor Al Mamzar, Al Mamzar Corniche, Jumeirah 1, 2, and 3, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and of course, Jebel Ali.
