DIFC Courts hear matters of commercial and civil law only
The DIFC Courts Small Claims Tribunal is located within the DIFC Free Zone and operates under English common law. It does not hear criminal claims. The DIFC Courts SCT covers all commercial contracts, but not employment or property claims outside of the DIFC.

How to register a Will at the DIFC Courts?
For non-English speakers, Ministry of Justice licensed translators appointed by testators present during the Will signing appointment. It serve to assist the testators to fully understand the terms of the Will before signing. The Wills Service provides administrative support to the DIFC Courts Wills Registry for Non-Muslims where the register of DIFC Courts Wills is held and where all probate matters and probate claims are handled.
- Select the Will that suits you
- After confirmed the type of Will, make an Online appointment to register your Will.
- Book an appointment on: eregistry.difccourts.ae/#wills
- Enter your valid Email / Password
- Select “Login”
- Bring 2 Witnesses, Your unsigned draft Will, Emirates ID, Passport and Proof of Payment (It can also carried out virtually via Videoconferenceing).
- Pay the Booking Fee
- Your Will stored as an encrypted and can be updated for a nominal fee.
- Will will be drafted by a registerred Will Draftsman

How long does Wills File is Valid?
- For 120 years from your DOB in the Registry.
How do I pay to register my Will?
- The Will registration fee must be paid online through a credit card at the time of booking the registration appointment. You can also select the ‘offline payment’ option, if you wish to pay with cash or cheque by visiting DIFC office. You will then have 3 days within which a payment must be made in order to confirm your appointment.
What is a Testator?
- A Testator is an individual who makes a DIFC Courts Will.
Are fees refundable?
- AED 1,000 per Will is non-refundable: If a payment is made in order to secure a Will registration appointment, and you later wish to cancel your appointment,
- The Government of Dubai Department of Finance will charge a fee of AED 200 to refund the eligible amount back to your bank account.
FAQ
1. How many times can I reschedule my appointment?
- An appointment can be re-scheduled up to 3 times without incurring any additional fees.
2. What is the cost to make modifications to a Will?
- AED 550 per Will.
3. How much does it cost to withdraw a Will?
- No fee associated with withdrawing a Will.
4. Can my spouse register a Will at the same time as me?
- You and Your spouse can register a Will in a joint appointment. The two Wills that are executed are commonly referred to as ‘mirror Wills’.
- The signing of the two documents takes place in a single appointment.
5. To register a Will, Do I have to be a resident of the UAE?
- No, neednot to be a resident of the UAE to register a DIFC Courts Will at the Wills Service.
6. Can I withdraw my Will?
- Will and any other documents may be withdrawn from the Registry by the Testator by an application in writing made to the Registrar.
7. Can I name a Pet as a beneficiary?
- Animals cannot be named as beneficiaries in any DIFC Courts Will.
8. Can I use my family as witnesses?
- Witnesses must be at least 21 years of age with a valid passport or government issed photo ID.
- Witnesses must not be Beneficiaries or Guardians, or spouses of Beneficiaries or Guardians, in the Will.
- Anyone meeting these requirements, including family members, may act as Witnesses to a Will signing.
9. What happens if I die without leaving a Will?
- The laws of the local courts in the Emirate(s) where the assets are located will apply by default to anyone who dies without a DIFC Courts Will.
1o. I’m non Muslim but my wife is Muslim, can we register a Will?
- If you’re a Muslim, you are not able to register a DIFC Courts Will. You may get legal advice for your personal situation. You may contact a lawyer from the register of DIFC Courts Wills Draftsmen.

- Complete the Forms and submit through online
- An acknowledgement receipt will be sent.
- Invoice number and fee will be included in the message.
- Payment may be made via credit card using the online payment facility.
- Go to More > Administration > Court fees and select the appropriate invoice. (Access to the Administration tab is limited to selected users within a law firm.)

What will be the Fees to register a Practitioner?
- Part I for law firms
- Part II for individuals with rights of audience before the DIFC Courts
Once registration completed, Part I and Part II registrants will be required to pay initial registration fees to re-register with the Academy of Law.

DIFC accept online payment for Registrations and Renewals by credit and debit card, in-person at our offices, cash, cheque and wire transfer.

FAQ
1. How can I confirm, if a lawyer is registered with my firm under Part I or under Part II?
- Our Register of Practitioners is available online on the DIFC Courts’ website. It may take 24-48 hours processing time for new registrants to appear on this list.
2. Is there any mandatory required for Pro Bono?
- No, there are no mandatory Pro Bono requirements
3. My registration has lapsed, how may I be added to the Register of Practitioners again?
- Registrations that have lapsed must send an e-mail to registration@difccourts.ae requesting a new registration.
- The applicant will be subject to the initial registration fees.
4. Can I make payment for a Registration or Renewal with my firm’s credit facility with the DIFC Courts?
- The DIFC Courts does not accept payments made with a credit facility used with the DIFC Courts.
