The free WiFi in Dubai taxis can always keep you connected even on the move! In order to digitalize taxi services in in the city, RTA has started to implement the ‘Tech Taxi’ initiative. It has announced that passengers will soon have access to free WiFi during their journey in all Dubai taxis. Not only that, they can have access to an array of digital services, once being connected.

Not only WiFi connectivity, but interactive LCD touch screens will also be introduced for a better and smarter taxicab experience. The major attraction being its various digital services including instant language interpretation, currency exchange rate, road map and path tracking. On being connected, the rider can log-on to website, Taxiconnect.ae to access an array of digital services. One of the most useful services bundled is instant interpretation of the passenger’s native language to the driver’s selected language displayed on the taxi meter screen. Other than that, the menu also flashes the current market exchange rates for converting various currencies to Dirhams. Similar to taxi apps Uber and Careem, riders can rate the performance of the driver and capture the taxi meter screen on his or her smartphone. To make driving safe, riders can track the path of their journey and share the map with their relatives or associates.
Tech Taxi initiative
After the launch of similar WiFi services in intercity buses to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, RTA has taken a step forward in making Dubai taxis digital too. It started implementing the Tech Taxi initiative. Earlier, RTA had announced the new e-hailing taxi service, ‘Hala’ which works in conjunction with Careem. And now the Tech Taxi initiative is the first-of-its-kind worldwide. Its WiFi and digital services support RTA’s efforts to make Dubai the smartest city in the world.
