What is Emirates ID/ Eida Card?
People who live in the United Arab Emirates can get an Emirates ID, which is a government-issued ID. Every person who lives or works in the United Arab Emirates must apply for and carry a visa at all times.
Eida Card: It serves as the primary means of identifying UAE nationals and residents. The Emirates ID is issued by the Emirates Identification Authority (EIDA).

Procedures to renew Emirates ID
Residents of the United Arab Emirates must get a new ID card when their old one expires, even if they are Emiratis, Gulf Cooperation Council residents, or residents of any age.
There are 3 ways to renew an Emirates ID card
- Directly visiting the printing office
- Through Happiness Center

- After that get an automated turn ticket and wait.
- Submit the complete application along with all documents to the customer service officer
- Additionally, pay the service fees if any.
- Lastly, will receive messages from customer service.

- Access through username or digital id.
- Search the service you want to apply for.

What is the replacement fee?
The Emirates ID replacement cost will differ based on where the application was submitted. The charges are the same for expat residents, UAE and GCC nationals:
- ICA website or smart app: AED 340
- Typing center: AED 370
- ICA Happiness Centre: AED 490
For UAE Citizen
- 100 dirhams: card issuance fee for five years.
- 200 dirhams: fees for issuing a card for ten years.
- 40 dirhams: a service fee
- 30 dirhams: printing office fee
For Citizens of the Cooperation Council countries
- 150 dirhams: fees for urgent service, must pay at customer happiness centers
- 100 dirhams: card issuance fee for five years.
- 40 dirhams: a service fee
- 30 dirhams: printing office fee
For Residence
- 150 dirhams: fees for urgent service, must pay at customer happiness centers
- 100 dirhams: issuance fee for each year (according to the period of validity of the residence permit)
- 40 dirhams: a service fee
- 30 dirhams: printing office fee
- 150 dirhams: fees for urgent service, must pay at customer happiness centers
Note: If the request is not clear 3 times, the transaction will be canceled
Documents required to renew
For the residents
- The original or expired id card.
- A valid Passport.
- It’s an authorization to issue a valid residence permit, a residence origin under renewal procedures, or a valid residence permit for those who didn’t produce an identification card when they issued the residence permit.
- Along with, a photo with a white background color.
- Next, Birth certificate, passport of the parent, or emirates ID if the child is under 15 years.
- If the customer was not present when the application was submitted and a third party was operating on their behalf, the original agency certificate would be required.
For the citizen
- Firstly, The original or expired id card.
- A valid Passport.
- Along with, a photo with a white background color.
- Next, Birth certificate, passport of the parent, or emirates ID if the child is under 15 years.
- It is required for people of determination to have an official medical report issued by the Ministry of Health or health authorities in the Emirates, as well as a valid People of Determination card.
- If the customer was not present when the application was submitted and a third party was operating on their behalf, the original agency certificate would be required.

For renewal: Where can I get biometrics for Emirates ID?
- Expired ID cards must be renewed within 30 days of their expiration date, otherwise, they will be fined.
- You will receive a notification via SMS regarding the renewal of Emirates ID (FAIC).
- Visit the website or in person at typing center.
- To supply your biometric information, you need to go to an FAIC service center or a preventative medical center.
How can I get Emirates ID?
- A text message will inform you of the application’s status and the expected delivery date.
How many days it will take to get Emirates ID after Biometrics?
- Depending on the method you use, it can take anything from a few hours to five days. Ex-pats must pay an extra cost for expedited delivery in order to receive their order within 24 hours.
How can I change my photo in Emirates ID?
- The cardholders are required to notify the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP) within one month of any changes to their personal information on the card.
- You must bring your original passport and Emirates ID card to one of the ICP’s customer happiness centers in order to change any information on an existing and valid ID card.
- The existing card can’t update online and this applies to all the Emirates ID cards issued to nationals and expatriate.
