What is the history of the UAE Emblem?

It was designated as the official national symbol of the United Arab Emirates in 1973. It resembles other Arab states’ coats of arms and crests.

It has a golden falcon on it. An Arab sailboat can be seen inside the red disc that was attached to the falcon. There is a chain encircling the disc. A red parchment with the name of the federation written in Kufic script is in the falcon’s talons.

On March 22, 2008, the logo underwent a change. The Arab sailboat was removed and replaced with the UAE flag and seven stars, which stand for the seven member states of the federation.

What is the meaning of color in the UAE flag?

The meaning of each color on the national flag is different:

1. Red 

  • On the left side of the UAE flag, near the pole, the color red runs vertically. This color, which makes up one-fourth of the flag’s length, stands for courage, strength, and bravery.
  • This color represents the capacity to stand up for what is right and defend it, as well as the sacrifices made by the previous generation in setting the groundwork for the nation.

2. Green

  • The flag’s green color is the first to the right and sits above the horizontal lines. This color symbolizes happiness, hope, and love. Additionally, it displays the colors of Islam, which is the United Arab Emirates’ official religion.
  • Additionally, the color green stands for the nation’s natural resources, particularly its agricultural background.

3. White

  • In the horizontal stripe, the flag’s white color is placed adjacent to the green. It is regarded as the color of purity and stands for honesty, serenity, and cleanliness. It serves more as a counterbalance to the bold red and black.

4. Black

  • The last color in the horizontal stripe is black. It symbolises mental fortitude. It matches the crimson color of the flag and stands for the defeat of adversaries.
