Though it came up lately, nearly two years after it acquired Souq for a whopping $580 million, consumers in UAE look forward to the new Amazon site with much awe and anticipation.

Souq Is Now Amazon.ae

While clicking on to Souq.com, you will now be redirected to Amazon site. With a plethora of domestic and international products to explore, you can find the best of user friendly features of Amazon like recommendations and wish lists. Amazingly, the new marketplace of UAE is a blend of Souq’s local know-how and Amazon’s global expertise.

How many more products will be on Amazon.ae?

Before shifting to Amazon.ae, Souq had 9.4 million products across 31 categories, including electronics, home & kitchen, fashion, perfumes & beauty and supermarket. The number of products has increased to more than 30 million. And that includes five million from Amazon US and the rest from local and international sellers.

One of the categories that are expanded exponentially is books. It has more titles than before. Prior to the re-branding, the category of books offered a small selection. Moreover, it was more localized. Now Amazon is bringing many publishers and booksellers from across the globe on to the platform. Don’t be surprised if you find 15 million titles here!

What will be my payment options?

You can pay by credit card, debit card, Amazon gift card or cash on delivery. COD or Cash on delivery is available for products fulfilled by Amazon, Amazon Global Store and some seller fulfilled items. However, few restrictions apply. For cash on delivery, the order value should not exceed Dh5,000. For Global Store, COD is only available for orders shipped via expedited shipping and not priority shipping.

Is VAT applicable?

The standard UAE VAT rate of 5% is applicable to most products sold on Amazon.ae.

What are my shipping options?

You can get free next day delivery on orders above AED100 as well as paid same day delivery to select areas in the UAE. With free shipping, your order will be delivered 1 to 2 business days after all your items are available to be shipped. However, standard delivery is offered at a fee starting from Dh10.

Is Amazon Prime offered?

While it’s not confirmed, Amazon has assured of launching different services on different occasions. And if its Amazon Prime, it’s an icing on the cake, sure you won’t miss this!

What about my data and log-in information?

If you already have your account, you don’t have to change your log-in information. While your address and payment information is already up on the site, you can only worry of filling up your shopping cart on Amazon.ae.
