Residents in Sharjah can heave a sigh of relief as they will be paying less for their electricity bills. According to the directives given by the Sharjah Ruler Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the SEWA or the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority has announced 37.7% reduction in electricity charges for expats living in their own freehold properties in Sharjah. The power charges reduced for Sharjah residents will be reflected in this month’s bill. It will not only ease the suffering of customers but also bring about family stability and happiness in the Year of Tolerance.

Power Charges Reduced by 37.7%
According to SEWA, power usage up to 2,000 kw will be charged at 28 fils. However, consumption exceeding 6,001 KW will see a charge of 43 fils. If power consumption is between 2,001 and 4,000 KW, you will be charged at 33 fils and if you consume more than 4,001 and up to 6,000 kw you will be charged at 37 fils. So rather than a fixed charge of 45 fils, now the tariff will range between 28 fils to 43 fils per kilowatt. The slash in electricity tariff will give customers flexibility in their consumption. It will help reduce electricity bill and facilitate decent living to resident families.
