In Dubai, a newly-wed British expat wins Dh10 million in the Mahzooz draw.

A 26-year-old British expat who recently married received the biggest gift of his life after winning the Dh10 million top prize in Dubai’s weekly Mahzooz lottery.Just five days before his wedding, the British expat scooped the jackpot.

“This is the most generous and memorable gift any newly-wed couple could ever dream of,” he said during a press conference on Friday at the Mahzooz headquarters in Dubai.

Reece, who has spent the last four years in the UAE, married on July 14. Since December 2020, the British national has been taking part in Mahzooz on a regular basis.

“I had always kept my hopes high, and here I am today, 10 million dirhams richer.”

On the night of the draw, the gym instructor found he had won by idly scrolling around the Mahzooz website.

“(I) observed that the winning numbers corresponded to the ones I had chosen. I proceeded to check my Mahzooz account and was astounded to see that I had won!”

Reece quickly informed his fiance and parents, who were stunned and moved to tears by the timing of the victory.

The 26-year-old stated that he is “carefully deciding what to do with the money.”

To take part in Mahzooz, you must first register at www.mahzooz.ae and buy a bottle of water for AED 35. Participants are eligible for one line in the Mahzooz Grand Draw for each bottle purchased and are immediately enrolled into the weekly raffle draw, where three lucky winners will receive AED 100,000 apiece.

Six other expats, including three Indians, one Filipino, a Turkish expatriate, and a French-Tunisian national, also won Dh10 million.

Junaid Rana of Pakistan is the most successful Mahzooz champion to date. In October of last year, he won the Dh50 million big prize.
