Dubai Airport Celebrates One Billionth Passenger

The major milestone has been marked by Dubai Airport this month as it welcomed its one billionth passenger. DXB and its representatives from across the aviation sector rendered a warm welcome to the airport’s billionth passenger, 9 year old Arjun and his family, who had then arrived from Orlando, Florida on Emirates flight EK220. On achieving this benchmark, Dubai Airport proudly celebrates one billionth passenger. Adding to the accolades, the airport had also been the busiest airport in the world for international travelers in 2017 after it had welcomed 90 million passengers!

9 Year Old One Billionth Passenger

Arjun was accompanied with his mother Ramya, father Venkatesh and his thirteen-year-old brother Varun. All were personally greeted by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman of Dubai Airports and were warmly welcomed on their Dubai’s first visit. The entire family was also delighted with details of an unforgettable and surprising set of experiences that showcased Dubai’s longstanding reputation for luxury and modern Arabic hospitality.

Growth of Dubai Airport (DXB)

When Dubai had opened a small terminal building and a 1,800-ft-long compacted sand runway 58 years ago on September 30, 1960, no one had ever realized that it was the first step in to become the most inspiring journey in aviation history. The billionth customer is no doubt the most significant achievement since the airport first opened. Today DXB is the world’s busiest international airport. It is an aviation brand much loved and respected around the world. It is widely considered a benchmark for its quality infrastructure, passenger and cargo volumes and high service levels despite unrelenting growth.

World Class Facilities of DXB

Over the past 11 years alone Dubai Airports has opened seven major facilities with an investment of almost $12 billion. 5 of those have only been at DXB including Terminal 3, Concourses A, B, D and the complete refurbishment and expansion of Terminal 2. DXB handles an average of 7.5 million customers every month and this year it broke its own traffic record thrice with more than 8.3 million customers in a month.
