With Jindal, Etihad Rail and Oman lower the $3 billion carbon footprint of the railway.

Through the UAE-Oman Rail Network, the MoU intends to make it easier to move up to 4 million tonnes of raw materials and completed goods annually from Jindal’s steel complex at Sohar Port to the UAE.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been struck between Oman and Etihad Rail Company (OERC) and Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel (Jindal), a significant integrated steel company in the GCC, to create a sustainable end-to-end transport logistics solution.

Through the UAE-Oman Rail Network, the MoU intends to make it easier to move up to 4 million tonnes of raw materials and completed goods annually from Jindal’s steel complex at Sohar Port to the UAE.

Through this partnership, Jindal can improve its operational integration while taking advantage of the rail network’s quick, affordable, and sustainable services.

“Our ability to seamlessly transport nearly 4 million tons of raw material will greatly help us in our operations, supporting our ambition to reduce our carbon footprint,” Harsha Shetty, CEO of Jindal said.
