- Couples who are interested in a marriage license can contact the Consulate by phone, e-mail, or walk-ins. Submission of these documents is necessary for processing their requests.
- They need to submit the prescribed “Notice of Intended Marriage” form duly filled along with a total (Service fee AED 190, ICWF AED8) fee of AED 198 in cash.
- The couple and three witnesses are required to present before the Marriage Officer for signatures with their original passports and a photocopy of their passports, both when submitting Forms and solemnizing Marriage.
- For publication in both the UAE and India, the couple must submit a newspaper notice after they have completed and submitted the form (at the place of permanent residence as indicated in the passport). The text provided by the Consulate should be included in the advertisement as its whole.
- Immediately following the publication of the notification, the newspaper must be returned in its entirety. Solemnization of marriage will take place no later than 30 days after the date of the most recent publication of the official notification.
- It is mandatory that all parties involved in the marriage ceremony provide the Marriage Officer with a copy of their original passports one day before the ceremony.
- To register the marriage, the couple and three witnesses must arrive at the Consulate on the agreed date. Passports must be carried in their original form.

- Should submit the form for ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ (4 copies)
- Must fill a form for ‘Declaration by Prospective Bride and Groom’(2 copies)
- Passport size photographs of Bride & Groom (4 copies)
- Passports and visas of three witnesses, self-attested as well as the original copies.
- Singleness Certificate / Divorce decree / Death certificate
- No Objection Certificate /Affidavit (in respect of someone regarding his/her marital status and willingness to marry an Indian) from the appropriate Embassy, which should be officially verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE.
What formalities are to be completed before the marriage can be solemnized if one among the prospective couple is Not an Indian?
- Consulates must issue a No-Impediment (singleness) Certificate, which must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- For cases when an Embassy or Consulate does not issue such a document, a Sworn Affidavit attested by that institution is required.
- A letter from the foreign national’s consulate stating that marriages between citizens of the same country are not prohibited.
What if Marriage is Solemnized outside the Consulate at Church / Gurudwara / Temple / Local Court?
- Should submit the form for ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ (4 copies)
- Must fill a form for ‘Declaration by Prospective Bride and Groom’(2 copies)
- Passport size photographs of Bride & Groom (4 copies)
- Passports and visas of three witnesses, self-attested as well as the original copies.
- Singleness Certificate / Divorce decree / Death certificate.
- They need to submit the prescribed “Notice of Intended Marriage” form duly filled along with a total (Service fee AED 190, ICWF AED8) fee of AED 198 in cash.
- Issued by a religious institution (Church, Gurudwara, Temple, or Local Court), such as one of these.
- Form properly completed (foreign marriage registration at the Indian Consulate in Dubai).
How is the prospective couple informed about the date of solemnization of marriage and when?
- After the Notice is published in the newspapers, there is a 30-day waiting period. Interested parties may contact the Consulate on any day following the publication of the ad to schedule the solemnization of marriage on the Thursday following the 30th day or any subsequent Thursday.
When do the prospective bride and groom and the three witnesses submit their original passports if Indians get married in Dubai?
- The original passports of the couple and witnesses must be given to the Marriage Officer one day prior to the day of the solemnization of marriage.
Whether parents of the prospective bride and bridegroom will be informed about the submission of Notice of Intended Marriage?
- Applicants for marriage must get a parental no-objection certificate (NOC). There are 30 days in which Consulate tells parents if NOC is not received.
