Dubai, the city of skyscrapers has been ranked among the world’s most expensive cities for New Year’s Eve destinations. In a survey of 50 global cities, it was revealed that one hotel room in Dubai cost nearly Dh1,000 per night. Survey by Cheaphotels.org says average hotel rate in Dubai for New Year’s Eve has been increased by 234%. Hotel guests in Dubai will have to pay an average of $272 per night, which represents a 234 percent hike on the normal January rate.
Hotel Prices for New Year’s Eve
The survey made a comparison of hotel prices in 50 cities around the globe. For each hotel, the price for the cheapest available double room for a 3-night stay from December 30 to January 2 was determined. Only those hotels were included in the survey that had 3 stars or more, a city centre location and had average positive guest reviews . Other US destinations to feature in the top ten include New Orleans ($269), New York City ($224) and Nashville ($216). For those seeking cheaper options, fellow US cities Seattle and Chicago are offering more palatable average rates of $116 and $105, respectively. While talking of destinations that have hiked their rates by the largest amount this New Year’s Eve, Taipei, the Taiwanese capital tops the bill with nightly prices of $175 for the most affordable room around New Year’s Eve – nearly 500 percent more than an equivalent stay in January.
Dubai Ranked Third Most Expensive Destination for New Year’s Eve
Dubai attracts a huge number of tourists from the Middle East, Asia and Africa to watch celebrations for the New Year across the city, hence hotel rates jump due to increase demand from tourists. To mark New Year, Dubai hosts grand fireworks in eight different locations across the emirate with Burj Khalifa, along with water-music performances from The Dubai Fountain, becoming the most popular spot. Miami Beach the World’s Priciest New Year’s Eve Destination
With a nightly rate of $281 ($843 for three nights) for the least expensive room, Miami Beach leads the ranking. Only a few dollars cheaper are Sydney and Dubai, which complete the podium with rates of $274 and $272 per night, respectively.
Affordable Destinations for New Year’s Eve
The most affordable destination, according to the survey, is Bogota, the capital of Columbia in South America, where you can find hotel rates of just $27 per night around New Year’s Eve. Some other options that can go easy on the pocket include Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Doha in Qatar and Hanoi in Vietnam, where you should find rates of less than $50 per night.
