Mark your calendars, Public and private sector workers get Equal Days Off in 2019 and 2020
There’s a reason to rejoice and plan your next holiday trip without the worries of applying for leaves! The complete list of public holidays for 2019 and 2020 is out. It’s up and ready for you to mark and plan your vacation. In a Tweet announcing the public holidays, the UAE cabinet said that private and public sector will get an equal amount of holidays both this and next year. While the decree aims at achieving a balance between the two sectors and supporting the national economy, you have a reason to go head over heels…also if you’re unemployed!
Equal Days Off in Public Holidays for 2019 and 2020
Earlier, public sector employees were given additional days off unlike those in private sector. This year, in an attempt to achieve harmony between the two sectors, the UAE government has declared equal 14 days of public holidays to all. This will attract Emiratis to work in private companies ensuring that there are enough jobs to go around, both now and in the future. Now, all sectors can look forward to the same public holidays for 2019 and 2020. However, the dates are still subject to local sightings of the moon as the Islamic holidays listed are based on the Hijri calendar, which is a lunar calendar.
