Dubai International Airport Reclaims Title as World’s Busiest
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is set to once again become the world’s busiest airport with around 60.2 million passengers in 2024, up 7% from the previous year and 12% from 2019, according to OAG. Emirates and Flydubai are major contributors to DXB’s leadership, serving more than 265 destinations.
According to information provided by the GCAA, more than 1 million flight movements took place in UAE airspace last year, with Emirates Flight 305 operating from Shanghai on December 22, 2024 making its one millionth flight record.
According to OAG data, DXB is followed by London Heathrow with 48.358 million seats, Seoul Incheon with 41.633 million and other airports, from Singapore Changi to Hong Kong International.
In terms of domestic and international passengers, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport ranks first in the world with 62.7 million passengers, followed by DXB in second place. Notably, in the GCC region, Doha Airport ranked 10th with 32.455 million seats, a 13% year-on-year growth, but slipped one place to 9th in 2023.
