The UAE has Launched Smart Gates to Expedite the Immigration Process!
Tourists arriving in the UAE no longer need to wait in queues for biometrics and iris scans. Instead, they can meet at smart gates and complete immigration procedures in seconds. The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) recently launched a new smart app. The app is called “UAE Pass Track” and it allows tourists to register online before arriving in the UAE. Once they are registered, they can use the smart gates at Abu Dhabi’s Zyed International Airport to expedite immigration procedures. The facility will be rolled out at Dubai and Sharjah airports in the next few months, ICP officials said at the Gitex Global technology conference.
The new app is currently available to Emiratis registered with the UAE Directorate General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), who can use smart gates to complete immigration processes at airports in seconds. DXB (Dubai) welcomed 44.9 million passengers in the first half of 2024, and Abu Dhabi Airport received 13.9 million visitors. This new initiative to simplify immigration processes will soon benefit millions of passengers using Dubai and Sharjah airports.
