247 bicycles, 16 e-scooters confiscated by Dubai Police for violating traffic laws

Dubai Police has confiscated 44 vehicles, 247 bicycles, 16 e-scooters for violating traffic laws during the last 11 months, in areas falling under the Rashidiya Police Station in Dubai. The confiscations were a result of reckless driving such as driving on roads where bicycles and e-scooters were not allowed, etc, according to a Dubai Police Press Release.

The director of Al Rashidiya Police Station also said that Dubai Police would not tolerate any violations that put road users’ lives in danger. He encouraged members of the public to join the police in protecting the community and not hesitate to report these violators by calling 901, as he confirmed that the Command and Control Room is ready around the clock to attend to these kind of reports.

Fines for Bike (bicycle) riders in Dubai:

Riding bicycles on roads with speed limit 60KMPH or more AED 600
Riding Bike in paths dedicated for Pedestrians AED 200
Driving in a way endangering Pedestrians AED 300
Riding doubles unless the bike is designed for 2 people AED 200

Recommended advise for Bike riders in Dubai:

  1. Wear a helmet
  2. Wear high visibility vests
  3. Ensure the lights are in working conditions, especially while driving at night time with less visibility
