Traffic fines would probably the #1 thing that worries Dubai residents. While the fines are levied only as a mechanism to enforce good behavior on the roads, sometimes the fines become a financial burden. While it is advisable to drive safe and to adhere to the rules of the road, but mistakes do happen sometimes. Dubai government has announced waivers of traffic fines multiple times in the past upto 50% off.
This time, Dubai Police has come up with an incentive for motorists to drive safe on the roads. As part of the “Year of Tolerance” initiative, Dubai Police has announced that they are waiving off the fines of motorists for their good behavior on the road.
To get the waiver, all one needs to do is to drive safely on the road without incurring new traffic fines.
25% discount if no traffic violations in 3 months
50% discount if no traffic violations in 6 months
75% discount if no traffic violations in 9 months
100% discount if no traffic violations in 12 months
The initiative was launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations said “The driver’s compliance with traffic laws and regulations will be computed on 6 February 2019 with a (25%) reduction for every three months. If a driver commits an offence before the end of the period, he/she cannot benefit from the initiative, and the grace period is recounted from the date of the new violation.”
This discount is a very meaningful initiative in that it encourages safe driving behavior while removing a financial burden from the Dubai Emirate’s residents.
