Botim recently announced that they are moving to Totok and UAE residents started installing Totok Messenger, which was not blocked by the UAE telecom providers Etisalat and Du.
However, today the app was removed by Google from the Google App Store. This does not look good. Usually Google pulls apps from its store if it violates their policies. It is not known whether Google pulled Totok or Totok was forced to remove it for offering free VOIP in UAE.
The users who have already downloaded Totok can continue to use the app. Totok is also offering a downloadable APK on their website for Android users to download Totok messenger directly from their website. However, users must be cautious while downloading from a website, because it is not verified by Google Play for any malicious code or spyware.
And there are several other apps masquerading the name Totok on the Play store. Beware not to download these Totok imitators as they might do something malicious and install spyware on the phones.

Apple also has removed Totok messenger from their App store. Accessing the app now shows this error message:
