Arrangements are in full swing as Dubai looks forward to welcome Rahul Gandhi, the President of India’s oldest political party, Congress. The major attraction of Rahul’s visit will be his interaction with the Indian expats in the UAE. The cultural event will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 4.30 pm on January 11.

Indo-Arab Cultural Programme
The Indo-Arab cultural programme is held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on January 11. Rahul Gandhi will be the official Chief Guest. As India will be commemorating 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, Rahul Gandhi intends to recollect the vision and principles behind the formation of the great nation. The Indian community in UAE, eagerly awaits for the unique opportunity to listen to the Indian leader who will share his thoughts on ‘The idea of India.’ More than 20,000 residents from across the UAE have already registered to attend the mega event. Over 1,000 buses have been arranged that will ply from various major locations in Dubai and Sharjah to transport attendees of the event to the stadium. Food, water and other refreshments will also be provided. About 70 folk artists from various Indian states would be performing before Rahul Gandhi’s speech to the public.
Interaction

Gandhi will also visit a labour accommodation to interact with the workers’ community. The main topic of discussion will be the various issues faced by non-resident Indians (NRIs). A research team has already looked into the problems faced by Indian expats in the UAE. However, the President of the Indian National Congress will then present these problems in the Indian parliament later. He will also address to the students and business community. Meeting some UAE ministers is also in his agenda. On the whole, the context of the meeting is not political. It is the leader’s way of reaching out to the Indian diaspora.
Rahul Gandi and Path Of Tolerance
UAE and India share the same values and ethos. In India, the path of tolerance began when Mahatma Gandhi fought against colonialism. Mahatma Gandhi preached non-violence and non-cooperation. Based on these two main principles, he led the country to fight against the British colonial rule.
